Environmental pollution is one of the main issues we have to deal with today. Not as individuals, not as villages or cities or countries but as a whole world. No matter which region of the world mostly responsible for this, the whole world has to suffer.

We can categorize pollution in to few sub sections like

  1. Air pollution.
  2. Water pollution.
  3. Land pollution.
  4. Sound pollution

etc…

Even if the whole world has to suffer because of this, act from each and every individual towards preventing pollution counts.

More people travel these days. For work or pleasure or for some other reasons. We can contribute to this good cause as travelers too. There are many ways we can help preventing pollution while travelling.

  1. Carry your own water battle of hydration pack.

If you keep buying water bottles from place to place while you travel, you will add many plastic bottles to the nature as garbage. More plastic means more garbage and more land and water pollution. Instead, you can carry your own water bottle or a hydration pack which you can use through out your journey. You can refill it whenever you finds a clean water sources. There are many places available in many cities where you can get clean drinking water from. You can rely on natural clean water sources if you are traveling through a jungle or through a mountain. You can always refill your bottle or hydration pack.

2. Take your own bag to put garbage

Always take your own baggage to put garbage and make sure you carry it with you as long as possible and make sure to dispose it in a proper place. You can reduce using garbage bags use.

3. Drop “Not mine” attitude

You might see some garbage while you travel which was disposed by some other travelers and don’t neglect those. Cary as much as possible of those to the proper disposal places with you.

4. Reduce using stuff which made out of plastic

There can be so many small stuff you use when you travel (which you will buy for lesser price only for those trips). Always try to select them which made out of something else other than plastic. Specially like wooden or any other materiel so you can dispose them without polluting the environment.

5. Eco friendly packaging

This can be bit expensive and time consuming but it will surely save the environment. This will reduce your own carbon footprint and it will be a big step to switch to green. You can use these packaging for food specially. What ever the packaging you are using, make sure you dispose them in the proper places rather than throwing them here and there.

6. Educate other travelers

There will be so many travelers who will be traveling to the places you have been and you should try to educate them about the importance of the proper garbage management system and the importance of it and the value of those destinations and how they can help to save those from pollution.

7. Use existing recycle machines

Recently France introduced a recycle machine near metro stations which passengers can put their plastic wastage inside and they will get points from them and they can use those points instead real money for metro rides. IN this way you can help to reduce pollution and also you will get a financial benefit as well.

8. Try to reach places on foot (which are possible)

Try going to the places on foot rather than taking motor vehicles. This will reduce the air pollution and sound pollution and will also give you really good exercise. You can save money and improve your health while enjoying the surrounding. Taking motor vehicle cause bad impact on many species living in those areas. You can help preserving those habitats.

Always think about as whole rather than an individual. Explore the world while help saving it for the many generations to come.

Happy traveling…
